Fixxie hang'n around

Just the same old stuff here. Fixxie is getting bigger everyday and she is fitting in real nice. She is not having any accidents in the house and she is doing well in the carrier during the day and when we leave her alone. We are thinking that even when she is older we are going to stick with her staying in the carrier as she has adjusted real well to it. Other then that he have been busy with the school stuff and doing our training as we have a lot of racing and things coming up for Nate this spring and summer. Other then that it has been work and no play but that is ok as it balances out later. Later..

It has been a busy few days as always here at our house. On Monday it was a Vet appointment for Fixxie and it was a few shots and now she is good to go until she is spade. Everyone at the Vet said Fixxie was the cutest dog that they have ever seen, I agree.

Then on Tuesday it was a orthdontist appointment for Nate and Maddie. I think the orthodontist said that Maddie is getting close to getting her braces off so that will be nice. As for Nate I think he a bit to go before his come off. But the teeth are looking good and it as always it worth it.

Wednesday was as always gate practice at the barn. There was a lighter crowd there so it was gate drops till you dropped. At the end I was pretty tired and for sure got my share of gate practice this week. Hoping that the practice helps one of these race days.

Thursday was the usual workout and then get a bunch of things done around the house. I had to get one of Nate's bikes ready for Jake to try bmx racing tomorrow too. I hope that Jake is ready and watching a few videos as bmx racing is a lot different then any of the other types of bike racing. But we are hoping he likes it and keeps at it after tomorrow. I always look forward to another racer trying bmx as I think it really helps Nate and his racing the road, men bike, track and cross. After that it was run to Nate's High School and attend a financial aid seminar. Glad to see that there are ways to get a few extra $ to help pay for some of Nate's college as it is going to be a few $.

Yesterday was just do a easy spin and and lift before chill'n with a few glasses of wine. I have to admit it is nice to just chill and have a few beverages before heading to bed at like 9:30. I have come to realize that I am getting old and the high light of the day is going to bed.

Then today was a early morning workout as we had brunch at Cece's Mom's house. We got to take Fixxie and she got to meet the rest of the relatives. Fixxie ran around for 4 hours and now she has been sleeping for 3 hours. I hope she doesn't get up and run around all night. Then it was drop Jessie off at a swim party, get Nate out of the house for a training ride with Garrett and Max before getting Jeremy. Now I am just waiting for Nate to get out of the shower and then head to BW's for a few wings ( like 24 HOT wings ).

Ride'n in Rockesha

Ronsta tossed out a invite to ride for a few hours out in Waukesha and the surrounding communities. In the end it was Ron, Forrest, Shelly and myself rolling for a few tic's under 5 hours. We rode awesome roads that had as it seemed alot of up hill direction, but it was a great day and with the sun out right now I could do it again but the bmx track is calling.

After the ride I got home and pulled the hose out and washed the cars and truck as they were filthy. Then it was clean up and head to Racine to get Len and Bob so we could get to the 40th Birthday party for Brad. It was nice talking to Dave for awhile there before heading home as was a little tired from the days activities.

Nate heads home from Tuscon today after his 5 days of training out there. Looks and sounds like they had a great time and go some good miles in again. They get in around midnight so his first day back to school is going to suck but I think that will be OK as he had a nice vacation. Well time to get to the bmx track. Later..

Fixxie is getting big

Fixxie is getting big as she barley fits in the bed we got her 3 1/2 weeks ago. She just chills in the morning as we get ready for work and school. A few weeks ago she would be going crazy and having a melt down knowing we were gong to leave her for a few hours but now she chills and goes right into the dog carrier and chills till we get home. The cool thing she is not having any accidents in the house any more. That is a nice thing for sure. But I do have to say it is nice having her around the house and playing with her each night after work. Now to plan for a ride tomorrow with this spring weather what should I do? I am thinking the Ronsta ride is at the top right now. Just waiting to see what is on the plate with the family right now. Later..

With Nate gone training in Arizona it left me for a drive to Elkhorn by myself for some gate practice. As always it was worth the trip, but the parking lot with this warm weather and the melting snow was a big sloppy mud pit but other then that it was a good night of gate practice. I felt real bad for Fred though as he was heading out of a gate he blew up his hub and went over the bars hard. But he bounced up and was OK but he tore that hub up but he is OK.

Nate is in Tuscon, Arizona getting some extra road training in with Randy, Garrett, Kaleb, Max and Simon and I know that they are loving it. They will be hitting Mt Lemon again and Nate was looking forward to riding up to the top again and getting a giant cookie from the Cookie Cabin before flying down the Mtn. Then it is some nice long training rides in some great weather. He comes back home Sunday afternoon before heading into work and then back to school. Lucky kid is all I have to say. Other then that Fixxie is doing awesome and both her and us are getting used to having each other around. I will post some pictures of her tomorrow. Later...

Today was the triple point race at the barn and Nate and I loaded the little bikes and headed to Elkhorn for some racing. Nate took a 2 in cruiser and then took a 4th in class. He is leaving for Tucson On Wednesday for some more road training in the sun. So with that happening he decided that rubbing elbows for a spot or 2 was not going to happen . I don't blame him as he did not want to have scabs and sore to take care of while out there training. I took a 2nd in cruiser and then a 1st in class. As always it was a blast hanging out with everyone this weekend. Later..

Nate's ride till his gets fixed

Thanks Mike and ISCorp for the use of a team car till Nate's Volvo gets fixed.

Well after the drive to Indy and the incident of running over the object in the road we are now dealing with the insurance company as the service transmission light came on and the steering is giving us some issues. They had me take it to a Chevy dealer at first and I asked why and they said that they were a preferred auto repair shop and that it would be a 1,2,3 and it would be done. I said do you realize that they will not be able to analyze the cars computer system as they may not have the proper computer to hook up to the Volvo, but I took it there as instructed. As I talked to the nice lady there about the issues that the car was giving us and she said that they could not hook it up to their computer as theirs would not get the computer codes to properly read out. So I told them I wanted it taken to Oscar's Motorsport Volvo repair shop. So today they towed it there and now it is where I asked them to take it yesterday or Monday as I wanted. But the good thing is that it is in good hands and we will hopefully hear what the issues are with the steering and transmission soon. But again thanks to Mike for letting Nate use a ISCorp team car until this one is fixed. Later..

Here are some great pictures that Sam got us racing today at the barn. Nate had a good day in the gates as he took a 1st in cruiser and then a 2nd in class. I took a 2nd in cruiser and class today which was a great day for me. I have to give a shout out to Cece as she let Nate and I race today on our 18th wedding anniversary. How cool is that? Then on top of that Mike Weber was real generous as is letting Nate borrow a team car as we have to take the Volvo in for service as the transmission service light came on and we have a appointment to have it looked at Tuesday. Thanks again Mike. Now I need to play with Fixxie as she is going a little crazy at my feet. Later..

Worth the trip

We were on the rode and something fell off a truck and I could not move to get out of the path of it and hit it. It cracked 2 rims and blow out 2 tires on the Volvo. We got a tow that took 2 frick'n hours in Illinois, man does this state suck big. Once we got the tow the guy dropped us at a tire dealer and that is were the fun started. They did not have the tires we had on the car as they stopped making that model and I bought 4 new tires as the other ones were going to need replacing and hell I got 3 for the cost of 2 of the ones I had on the car. But once they got the wheels off the 2 rims on the drivers side were cracked and they had to call around till they found some matches. They did and the nice guy made our shop the first on the list instead of the last as planned. We got it all taken care of and tossed a alignment in as that was needed too. Then we hit the road for the rest of the trip to Marian University even though the snow had started to fall.

The trip down was starting to get interesting as the snow was falling and blowing for a while till we hit Lafayette. It stopped around there and the roads dried up and it was smooth sailing till we pulled into the Marian University parking lot. Nothing like the staff staying as I kept in touch to let them know we were dealing with the car and snow. How cool they were when we got there to make us feel so good when we got there. Thanks Josh, Ashley and most of all coach Dean.

The campus was real nice and comfortable and I think a great fit for Nate. Ashley was real helpful and informative as we did keep her there extra on a Friday because of the tire and wheel issue. But she informed us of all the info about the school and then gave us a tour of the campus before meeting with coach Dean. I have to say that Dean runs a top notch program and I love the fact that they are students before cyclist. But after talking to Dean I think Nate would be a good fit for the program there. Now it is time for Nate to pull the pull and sign as he is accepted and all. We just have to get the $ in line and see where we stand, but the drive through all the snow and tire issue getting to talk to Ashley and coach Dean made the stressful trip worth it.

After the visit it was get some gas and some food and hit the road for the ride home. That now was a real bad deal all the way home. Well not all the way but from about 10 minutes from Marian till we hit the Wisconsin line as Indiana was just open blowing snow and at times when you couldn't see but 10 feet in front of the car. But we made through Indiana and then it was even crappier as Illinois was worse as they do not know what a plow or salt are used for as the roads were so bad it was unbelievable. To top it off they for sure do not only know how to drive like crap on dry roads they drive worse in the snow. There was drivers into the walls, turned in the wrong direction, and stuck everywhere. Just a joke in Chicago as it was worse there as there was not a plow anywhere to be seen. But I got to the left and drove my speed in the snow and just cruised by everyone and once we got to the Wisconsin line it was all good and we pulled in the garage at 11:30. What a long and stressful day to say the least. Now Nate is taking the Police Aid exam just to keep all his options open and then working at Rays later. What a busy kid to say the least. Later.

Running around like a crazyman

Just been busy as heck here as with Fixxie in the house we are always taking care of here needs and today I just took her to the vet for her last shots and a puppy check up. All was good and she is a healthy puppy and a keeper. All I have to say is all the people that see her just fall in love with her and say that she is the cutest puppy that they have ever seen. The good thing is that fixxie is just a ham with all the people that wanted to pet her today and last weekend at the pet store. Well there is more then just a new dog here as Nate and Maddie have had the finals this week and that really helped as they spent the afternoons home with with her and let her out so the potty training is going good. Then I ran to bmx gate practice yesterday as Nate stayed home as he has a bit of a chest cold going on so he has just been hanging low. But tomorrow the kids are all off so Nate and I are heading to Marian University in Indiana for a campus visit and possibly sign up to go to school there if it all adds up to be a good fit. Just have to see how the visit goes and the sit down with the cycling coach goes. Then get home and get some rest as Nate has the exam for the Milwaukee Police aid on Saturday. That is just a fall back as he could start with the MPD and become a policeman and then have a career right out of high school. Just a opportunity that he does not want to pass on. Time to get a few things ready and get ready for the 5 hour drive in the morning. Later..

Here is Fixxie relaxing over the last few days and Nate taking a nap with her on his chest. I think that she is growing a few inches a day as she seems so much bigger then last week. Today we took her to Ben's cycle for some play time with Emma and Hanna. It was so nice that Drew and Steve have such great dogs and that they played so well with Fixxie as she is about 1/10 the size of them. Now she has been sleeping a lot as they tuckered her out. Time to go make sure that the kids are studying for their final exams tomorrow. Later..

Shots fired

Well the dust has settled and I am glad to have been spared from any of the collateral damage. So here is how it went down on Wednesday at work. Teresa and I had just got done testing some scales at the scarp yard on 30th and Concordia ave and pulled out and parked the van to do some daily paperwork. As we were parked entering some data on our computers a car pulled around the van and into the alley just ahead of us, The car then stopped and 2 men got out of the back seats and walked down the alley behind the car. I thought oh just going to buy some drugs or something. Well I finished my work on the computer and pulled forward to just see what the guys were up to, you know see if they were buying drugs or something. So in the process the guys split up and one went on the south side of the garage and the other on the side I can see. I proceed slowly and the guys looks at me and raises his arm and then looks forward between the houses and starts shooting as does the other guy on the south side of the garage. It all happened about 25 feet away from us and the sounds of the gun firing is nothing like you hear on the television. I pulled forward to get a house between the shooters and us so he would not fire at us as he knew we seen him prior to his shooting. When I pulled forward I could see a house with a group of young men on it ducking to not get shot from these 2 idiots. In all they fired 13 shots and missing everyone thank God but I have to say I just about crapped myself when all the dust settled. I did not get a plate # or the state the car was from but I did get the make and model and stayed till the police came and gave them the details of what I seen happen. I am glad that no one got hit and the little kids that were out where all safe. I just have to say seeing the flash and smoke coming from the gun as the guy fired the first 3 shots before getting out of the way was so unreal I can not describe it. Also watching all the people running and yelling as they were getting out of the way was as crazy as hell to. But I have to say that I am looking twice each time I see a car similar to the one that the guys were in that day. But now it is just back to normal and just go do my work each day since and not worry about things that you can not control. Just glad that the guys didn't fire at us first. Later..

Fixxie fix

Well it has been 2 days with Fixxie and she has fit in real well. The sad thing is when we put Fixxie in the little carrier at night and in the morning before we all leave for work and school she cries. I hope that it is not long in the morning but at night it has been from 10 to 20 minutes before she stops and goes to sleep for a few hours. Then in the middle of the night so far Maddie and Nate have had her in their rooms and then taken Fixxie out to take care of her business. Then when we get home it is game on full play time till bed time for fixxie. Although she did nap on my lap before dinner for a few minutes tonight. The fun was her first time in the snow tonight too as she was a little freaked out and wanted to run right back in the door. The good thing is she goes out and takes care of business and runs right back in so that is nice instead of waiting 10 minutes while she chases and eats leaves before hand. It has been nice as Fixxie has adjusted real good to the separation from her siblings and mother real well and enjoying all the attention she is getting. Later..

Here are the pictures of Fixxie our new puppy. She was born on October 21st 2011. Tina posted a picture on Facebook that her friend Sheila had a pug puppy that she was looking to sell. Well a few days later we now have a pug puppy in the house. The kids are all giddy and happy and the dog I think must think we are all nuts as no one will leave the poor thing alone. The puppy that we are picking up on Thursday. Our little pugs name is going to be Fixxie.

So Tina posted on Facebook that a friend of hers had a puppy Pug for sale. I waited for a while and then I seen Tina on Sunday at the bmx races and asked if the puppy was still available. She said that she thought so and when I got home I brought up that Tina had a friend that has a pug for sale and the girls begged for a few minutes and Cece caved in and said OK. I got a hold of Tina and I got the info and made Maddie call and ask about the puppy and made arrangements to pick the puppy up on Thursday. Things are going to get a little interesting around here for a little while for sure. Hell we just got back from Pet Co and bought a bunch of things so we are prepared for the arrival of the addition. Now I must listen to the girls talk about dressing the poor thing up and hell they want to paint the nails on the dog. Be ready for alot of pictures of Fixxie to come. Later..

It was a fast and furious race today and Nate had a great ride. There was about 50 riders in the race and all of them were fast as hell as was Nate. We got there with some time for Nate to get out on the course before the racing started and the ground was all torn up and frozen with deep ruts. Nate was riding the course and must have hit a rut and pinch flatted his newly glued tubular. But Matt was awesome and let us use Joesy's race wheels and we dialed in the tire pressure and Nate was running a perfect set up. Nate got a good start and was sitting near the front and then after a tight turn and in some of the deepest ruts Nate had to put a foot down not to go down causing him to lose a few spots. Each lap as the race went on Nate got faster and head his ground. We did do one bike exchange to get his main bike clean and then it was ride it till the end and it worked perfect for Nate. He finished 18th and that is a good ride with the conditions and the fact that this age class of riders super fast. In the end we are so proud of Nate with his effort and race today and with the long season and the awesome year that he had this was a great way to finish the year off. Now it is some rest and recovery, well almost as Nate went to Rays tonight to have some fun. Tomorrow is bmx racing and Nate is taking the day off as he needs to get some homework done and then relax before he has to go to work at Rays. But I am going to go and race some bmx as I need to race now that Nate is done racing. Later..

Pre race at Cyclocross Nationals

Yesterday was the non championship cyclocross 10-29 race. Nate toed the line along with Garrett, Simon, Sam and Joesy. The temps were 27 degrees and with the sun out the ice was still there in a lot of the course even though the awesome crew put down alot of salt and sand it was still a tough course. Nate said the corners and hill were greasy and that the ice was in alot of the spots that caused him to take some lines that he did not intend to. Well in the end he finished 15th and it was well worth the trip as we got a lot of info that we needed for the big race this Saturday. Then I got home and cleaned Nate's bike and then ran to the shop to get a bunch of items that we needed for the race bike to finish the last steps before the race. Then I went to Rays to ride with Aaron, Len and whole mess of knuckle heads before hitting the wall since I was up at 4am to get ready for the race. Then today it was run all over the place after work to get some of the phone bill and get Jess a hamster and Maddie a Beta fish before doing my training ride and lift weights. All I know is that I am going to go to bed soon and then go over Nate's bikes a few times before the race Saturday. Back Home

Billy, Chad, Nate, Simon and I went for a spin to the bottom of Mt Lemmon and then Nate, Simon and I flipped it and took a nice spin home and Billy and Chad rode back up Mt Lemmon. After that I broke the bike down and packed it in the bike box and got it ready for the plane ride home. I shipped it there along with Nate's bike through the shop and Chad said that I was better boxing it and taking it along for a bag fee of $20.00 instead of the few 100 it cost for the shipping of Nate's and mine to get it there. So when Nate goes back there in February we are going to do the same thing in that we are going to have Nate box it and bring it back with him for a saving of a few 100 in total to do this way. Then it was relax and swim in the 80 degree weather once more and enjoy the sunset. After dinner it was pack the bags and clean up the house and have the last laughs before it was bed time as we had a 5am limo ride to the airport. Then it was a delay free ride home and back to reality and the freezing weather. I have to thank Billy Jones and his family for the awesome place to stay and train for the week. Also thanks to Randy Roth and his family for the company and great time that the kids were able to have together for the vacation. Now I need to get a few things done and then head to bed before it is time to get back to work and then get Nate ready for his Cylcocross National Championship races this week and weekend. Later..

NYE day

Yesterday was a down day as half the house went home. The Roth family and Max went home so that left Nate and I out for a ride as Simon had the day off too. So Nate and I headed to Colossal cave and back adding some efforts in and enjoyed another solid day in the saddle in sunny 78 degree weather. Then we relaxed by the pool for a little while before sitting around and having fun talking and enjoying the night. Billy also got the dirt bikes fixed so we will have to take them out today for a spin and test them out to make sure that they are sand worthy. Then Billy bought some fireworks and the kids and him fired them off before we all retired to bed around 10:30pm. Today is the final ride and then we will get our stuff packed and ready for the trip home tomorrow. Time to get ready for the ride. Later...

Yesterday was another day of riding in the best weather one could for this time of year. 78 degrees and sunny is what it was here. We rolled out and hit some dirt roads and then some crappy roads and rode to a park that had a lake. Yeah there is water here in Tucson. Then we did the programmed workout before heading a few miles up Mt Lemmon again. I have to say that the ride up is really cool but the ride down is worth the ride up. Then we got home and the kids went for a swim before we headed to Colossal Cave for a fun time in the ground. It was a different cave as it was 70 degrees and dry which was nice compared to the ones up in Wisconsin that are cold and damp. Then it was back home for some goofing around before Cece played some games with the kids. The Roth family and Max went home early this morning so it leaves us and Billy's family here for the last 3 days so that will be a change not having the other 5 kids running around. But it will still leave us with some fun rides to get in everyday. Well time to go over the bikes and get ready to ride. Happy New Year everyone. Later..

Well today's ride was in the Sagauro National Park. I have to day the roads were awesome and the ride was a blast as we could have ridden all day. Then it was swim and relax before going out to eat a t a awesome Mexican restaurant that Billy took us to. Once again I was enjoying the warm sun in the saddle and the pool. We got a easy spin in for a few hours as the climb up Mt Lemmon took a toll on all our legs. Today is another ride and enjoying the warm weather and no covers on the legs and arms. I can't believe that we only have 5 more days of this to do already. Man am I going to have to really enjoy it while it lasts. I have to thank Billy Jones for the great place to stay and the great time that we are having . Thanks a ton Billy and Dana. Simon and Randy at the top as we waited a bit for the gang to come past. They never did so Simon and I headed down and beat them to the bottom by just a few minutes.

Yesterday was the epic long ride to the top of Mt Lemmon. We started out at 10 and headed to Mt Lemon and the 10 mile ride there was over in no time as we rolled up to the bottom of the hill. That is where Billy, Nate, Garrett, Kaleb, Max and Randy rolled away as Simon and I went up at his pace. The boys and Billy went all the way to Ski Valley at the way top for a bite to eat. Simon and I stopped a few times for a few gu's to eat and then we rolled up to mile #22 and waited with Randy as we seen him rolling down. He said that the kids and Billy dropped him at mile #8 and he rolled up to Summer Haven and turned back. Then Simon and I headed down and just beat the guys down by a few minutes. In all Simon and I rode 66 miles and had 4:50 in the saddle and the other guys got around 80 miles and 4:30 in the saddle. It was a great ride and would like to do it again but I don't think there is time and or I could do it again without killing myself. Then it was sit with the podium legs on and get a massage. I feel good today and it is just a short recovery ride. Later...

It has been a fast few days as we had our family Christmas on Friday and then we loaded our butts in a plane and now are in Tuscon for the next week to ride and relax in the sun. I am just glad that I have been off the last few days as I have been running all over the place. Yesterday started with some phone calls to cancel the mail and paper while we are in Tuscon, lift weights, run to the emissions to get the Monte Carlo tested to only find out that they are closed on Wednesdays, run to the post office to mail the Christmas cards, then finally make it Rays for 4 hours. Then it was get home and get a 2 hour training ride in before taking Maddie to her last driver ed class before finally making dinner and doing a few loads of laundry before sitting down. Then today it was run to the emissions to get the car tested and it did pass which took no time at all but to pay for it there to get the sticker they rape you for another $10.00 bucks, what a bunch of bull is all I have to say. Plus they had 4 lines open for the testing but just 1 person taking the payments which took for ever. After getting through that I ran to Lenn's house to borrow a wheel bag for take Nate's Power Tap wheel that Doug is letting him use to Arizona. Also get a Power Tap harness to hook up to Nate's bike, and buy a pair of sun glasses. After that it was a trip home to get Nate's cross bike and run to Ben's to take the single chain ring set up off and then put a double back on. Thanks to Chris it was done in a few minutes and now both bikes are ready for Nationals. Then it was get to WCJ wire to meet Mike Weber but he didn't make it there as the Sprinter was still being worked on, so maybe tomorrow we will meet up to go over a few things before Nationals as we are going to have it there to keep the boys warm before and after the races. Then it was come home and get a training ride in before my parents and Wade stopped in. So tomorrow it is run a few errand and then go to the bank, training ride in and then our family Christmas as we leave for Arizona on Saturday, hope I get everything packed and don't forget anything. All I do know is that I am for sure taking my riding shoes, helmet, a kit and some things in my carry on. The bikes are already there so that is good and now we just have to get there and ride. Boy I can't wait to just get to Arizona to ride and relax for a while. Oh well time to get a few things done. Later...

I did my last day of work today for the rest of the year. I had 2 extra days that I had to use before the end of the year or lose them. So held on to them until this week and put them onto the next weeks Christmas holiday week and now I have the next 12 days off and all I have to do is use 5 days of vacation. So the last few days I went over my list and made sure that I inspected all the devices in my district. So that being done now I can sit back and get a few things done over the next few days and enjoy some time with family and friends. Tomorrow I have a few things to do and then hit Rays for some fun in the morning and then get home and do a training ride with Nate. Then it is run Maddie to her last drivers ed class and try to get her to drive a little. Like Laura told me made I will take her to the cemetery for the first few times as she is a little afraid of the traffic and driving in it. Then it is time to get packing and get the last things ready for our trip to Arizona. Can't wait to get out there to ride and enjoy the warmer weather. Later..

It as always been a busy week here. Wednesday I had to go to the oncologist for the final checkup to ensure that I was melanoma free. The good news is that I am and now it is just follow ups every few months to a year. Yeah. Then it was run to Jessica's concert Wednesday night and as always the kids do not disappoint as they all try hard and do a awesome job. Then on Thursday I went to Rays again and rode while Nate worked. That gives me a nice 5 plus hour workout on the jumps and skills area. I have to say after riding and jumping for that long I am on sore old man on Friday for work. But I love it and plan on going every Thursday to Rays to play while Nate works. Then last night it was our bike team meeting and as always thanks Len for letting us have it at your house. The plan again it is that you will see us in the races and maybe under a different team name but as always the RPM cycling team is still alive but just different colors. Then today was a meeting with Nate's coaches Doug and Scott so we can plan the next year of racing and training. All I can say is that it is going to be fun and fast. Nate sitting in 7th for the first 2 laps today till he crashed and had to get to the pits for his spare bike as he messed up his shift lever. In the process he lost a ton of spots and had to chase hard to try to catch back up. He get his bike back after Chris fixed the lever and he was back on the chase.

He is Nate riding away to another season of racing as it was his last race of 2011. First race is the Cross National Championships in Verona on January 4th 2012 on the same course he raced the last 2 days. Just hope he has better luck nest year as he has had a few mishaps the last few races. Here is to a good year of racing and a better one next season.

I was another busy week here and we were running in all directions again. Wednesday I went to bmx gate practice while Nate stayed home and did his workout to get ready for the cross Nationals in a few weeks. Maddie still has drivers ed all week after school so she has been busy with that and she passed her temps test the other day so she will be driving soon. That will be interesting for sure, but I hope she has the patience to just relax and listen when we are trying to help her. Then on Thursday I went to Rays and rode while Nate worked and attended Lynne's birthday party which was a fun time. Then on Friday we dropped the girls off at Pete and Laura's for Danielle's 12th birthday gathering. While they were there Cece, Nate and I went and got a few things done. We went to Woodman's to see what the deal was and all I have to say is that store is huge and busy as hell. We found a few things but really I won't be driving there to shop any time soon as there is a lot of deals on some things but the need to drive there for a few things just won't happen as Cece really only shops for things that are on sale any how. Then yesterday is was cross racing in Verona and then to Ben's cycle for the Sock drive party which was a blast, thanks Vince for the fun night. Then is was back to Verona today for more racing before getting just in time for Nate to get a shower and get to work at Rays. I ran the road bike to Wheel and Sprocket to have them shipped to Tuscon for our trip over the holidays so Nate and I can ride. Now I can't wait to get back to work so I can relax as all this running has made me tired. Later..

Gingerbread house

Here is the ginger bread house that Maddie and her boyfriend Jeremy made for Jessie last over the weekend. They made the dough and then put it in the ginger bread house molds that Jeremy's family has. Them they used candy and icing to build the house. I don't know if you eat it but I know that I will give it a try once the OK is given even if I have to dip it coffee for an hour to chew it. But Maddie and Jeremy did a great job and it looks really nice. Thanks Guys.

Right now Maddie is at drivers ed and she should get her temps on Thursday so that means that we will have another driver in the house, but this is going to be interesting and I hope she doesn't get lost while driving. I know that she doesn't really pay attention when we drive places so she is in for a eye opener when it comes time to getting to places on her own. But in all I think that she will be a good driver and I just hope that that it goes smooth the first few times I take her out driving. But I bet it won't be like Nate's first time as I had him drive for the first time after bmx gate practice the day after getting his temps on the freeway in a blizzard that had cars in the ditch all over the place on the way home. But he did fine and thanks Tina for all the texts on that night asking if I was crazy for allowing him to drive for the first time in a blizzard. But Maddie should be fun and I will have to maybe have to try it out in a big parking lot first and maybe the parkway. But we will have some fun and get it done for sure.

Jess has been practicing her clarinet and I have to say that she is really beginning to sound pretty good. I hope she sticks with it as she seems to be enjoying it. Plus I get to hear her play it in the school concert nest week. I think that she has a duet during that concert so I will have to try to get close to record it to put up here afterwards.

Other then that we are just clicking along getting closer to the holidays and a much needed vacation. Later..

We got the tree up the other night. Jess already has a little mess around it.

Well we have been a little busier around here again as the holidays are approaching so it is a lot of running to try to get stuff together. Plus we are trying to get ready for the trip to Tuscon over the holidays this year. So we are trying to get a lot done before we head there. Plus with the running around with the lids sure makes the days go fast. Nate has had work and had a cross race today, he has not looked like himself the last few races and he took another 4th place. He was in the lead and then the wheels fell off and he just rolled in taking 4th. I will have to try to figure out what is going on and have him ready for the cross Nationals coming up in January, the good thing is that they are a few weeks away. Maddie has Drivers ed and has been swimming and riding to stay in shape so that is a nice. Jessie is just being a 10 year old having some fun and as always doing what is asked of her. As we all know that will change once see becomes a teenager so we are enjoying while we can. Later..

Well it has been more of the same around here. Busy running to appointments and all is good on the Dr front and now one more appointment with the oncologist on Dec 14th for the super duper check up to make sure that all is good. Then it is only every few months instead of every few weeks like it is presently.

Maddie has started Drivers Ed and in a few short weeks we will have another driver in the house. WOW that is going to be a interesting time when that happens. The thing is that she could have her license now but she never pushed to take the classes or anything. If we had not said this is the time I think she would have still waited but it is a good thing that she is doing it as Nate will be leaving for college next year and Maddie will have to drive herself and Jess to school and she will have the practice and driving down good by then.

Nate has been working at Rays and doing his workouts as he took a little break as he was a little tired from the long year of racing. He is ready to go again and he looks refreshed as ready again after a nice week off of relaxing. He has the fire in the eye again as he is looking forward to the Arizona trip in December and the cross Nationals in Jan. But I have gate practice tonight and Nate is staying home to do his workout as he needs the efforts not just gate drops. SO it will be a little different just going on my own and I suppose I will just be getting used to it as next year Nate will be gone and I will be on y own anyhow.

Jess is just being a 10year old having fun and Cece is busy with her school stuff. Other then that is is only 3 weeks until Christmas and we head to Arizona for vacation. Wow has time flew this last year. Oh well time to get some things finished that I have going. Later..

I went hunting this morning for deals not deer. Being that I have not seen any deer the last few days and we have doing some chores around the cabin the interest in sitting and starring at trees got old. SO last night the punks and I ran to Walmart to grab some deals on videos and some PS3 games. We got what we wanted and a few other things and came back to the cabin all with in an hour and a half. There are a tone of interesting people out for some deals at 9:30 at night. I was worth the trip for the items and the people watching. Then this morning Cece and I headed to the few stores that we have in Rhinelander for the items that we wanted and could get. So we got deals instead of deer today. Later..

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Good Luck to everyone racing at the grands this weekend in Tulsa. Today we skipped the deer hunting to clean up the rest of the old tree fort and we are glad to the fact that no one got hurt in the process of taking down a well nailed fort that was 15 feet in the air. Plus no one stepped on any nails that were sticking out of any boards. After cleaning that mess up I changed the oil in the Volvo and then we washed and waxed my brothers truck, wash and waxed the Volvo, wash and waxed my Dad's 2 suv's and then we washed my car and my brothers truck. the good thing was that we were able to listen to the Packers play the Lions. Now we are getting ready to sit down for another awesome Thanksgiving dinner with all our family here. Then after letting the dinner settle in we will play some card games and Yahtzee with the kids. Well the luck is still holding and we didn't get a deer yet as we only got into the deer stand this morning. Well it would be nice to get one but if not it does save a lot of money and time. But after a quick trip into town to get the oil for the oil change in the Volvo tomorrow we had lunch. Then Nate, myself and my Dad took the old tree fort down as the high winds this fall took a toll on it and it was better to take it down before the kids were in it and it fell down. So we got most of it down and we will finish it tomorrow and then this summer build a new deer stand fort so we have several spots to sit and babysit some trees. Another day in the woods that was way better then work any day. Today the temps were up a little causing the snow on the trees to drop onto me during the the late after noon. Then I was back in the other tree stand after lunch and I did not see any deer. My Dad sat in the other tree stand and seen a doe stroll past but nothing else. Maybe better luck tomorrow. Today was a day of tree sitting and watching the squirrels fight and chase each other for the day. Then I just baby sitting the trees all day. Hopefully he has a little better luck then he had over the weekend down in Louisville Kentucky as he rolled a few tires off. But just having fun racing is all that matters. Then on Sunday it is Jessica's birthday, bummer that I will be up here for it but we will celebrate it when she gets up here for Thanksgiving next week. Vacation time

Well this week is all done and now it is time to get the stuff packed and loaded and head to the great north woods for some hunting. First I had to get a few things done and now it is just load the car and head it north. I have hinted with my father since I was a freshman in high school and we have only missed a year or 2 since then. We have had a lot of good times even though we did not get any monster deer over the years but we have gotten a few nice ones but that is not what counts as it is the time to just sit and talk and wait for that big one to stroll by someday, maybe this year is the year. Weekend racing

Yesterday was a single point race day at the barn and I hit it up. I didn't make the main in cruiser and I took a 3rd place in the 20 inch class. Nate was at the USGP race in Louisville Ky and had a front tubular roll off in his race and he finished 20. Cece and the girls and some of Maddie's friends went to the Swim State Championships to cheer on Kelly one of Maddie's teammates. We were all over the place having fun.

Today Nate raced again in Louisville Ky and then rolled a rear tubular and finished 23rd after getting to the wheel pit for a new rear wheel. Needless to say we are done with the tubular wheel set up. I again went to the barn for some racing as I enjoyed it so much I needed more. Plus it was a double point race and we worked so hard building the track that I want to enjoy it some more. I took a 2nd in 20 inch class and then a 3rd in cruiser class. But the best was that I bought a few tickets for the 50/50 raffle and had the winning ticket for a cool $350.00 in the pocket. Then it was get home and shower and run to Maddie's swim banquet. I tried to load the pictures we took but her camera won't load them into my computer. So you will have to believe me that all the swimmers looked great and way different not in their swim suits. But it was a fun time and we are so proud of Maddie as she got the most improved swimmer award and always smiling award too. Now we are just waiting for Nate to get home. Later..

The girls are going to go the WIAA State Championships for Div 1 Swim today and cheer on one of their teammates that made it to the State Championship meet. It should be a fun time as it is held at the the UW pool in Madison. Good Luck Kelly and swim fast.

Nate is in Louisville Ky for the USGP Cross race. He went down with Hans, Ian and Paul yesterday and should have gotten there to get a pre-ride in on the course to see how it rides. I looked at the list of racers and there are some heavy hitters in Nate's race and he should be in for a tough battle to get near the top. I hope he has his head on and his legs are ready for ride as he will need it. Good Luck to all those racing down in Louisville over the weekend.

I am going to get a few things done today that I did not get to do yesterday while I was off. I got the Volvo to the transmission shop again as it had a little leak and they found that they crushed the washer on the plug and it caused a little leak. So they found a new washer and it is holding now. They did have to drain the fluid and refill it so it was another flush and fill making it good as now it should be almost all new fluid as they never get it all but now it should be close. Then it was run to Sun Ringle and get Nate's new 24 inch dirt jumper wheels, bars, stem and pedals. He now just needs his Black Market dirt jumper frame to come in. Then it was to Tracer Joe's for some cases of wine and trendy food things. Once I got home it was a training ride, lift weights and then go get Jessie from school before finishing it off with raking the leaves and cleaning the garden of leaves before mowing the lawn for the last time.

Today it is wash the cars and truck and then ride and lift weights before I head out to the Barn for some bmx racing this afternoon. It should be a fun night of racing and hanging out with the crew again. I need to get the stuff ready for a ride and then get to work on washing the cars and truck so I can race. Later..

Last night was the first night of gate practices at the barn. It was a blast and as always a great time to see a lot of the people that we have not seen since last March. I was getting more come comfortable on the new track and hoping that it works the next time. It was Nate's first time on the bmx bike since last March too. After rolling out of the gate a few times he was almost up to the speed he ended with last year. But he knows that he has to tweek a few things and that will come back fast. He also held back on the jumps for another week as he is heading to Louisville Kentucky for the USGP cyclocross races over the the weekend. He just didn't want to take a chance and lay it down and end up hurt. But as always it was a great time and we can't wait till next week to do it again. Later..

Yesterday I loaded the little bikes into the car and headed to the barn for some bmx racing. It was a blast to be back on the little bikes and racing with a fun crew again. The racing is fun but the real fun is hanging out with a real cool bunch of people for a day. I have to say that I missed the fun times on the bmx bike and it was a good choice to go there and race. I took a 2nd in the 20 inch class and a 3rd in the cruiser class. It was the first time that I have raced since last March and I could tell as I almost crashed coming out of the first turn. But after a few gates I got a little better and enjoyed the racing. Thanks Sam for the awesome pictures you got as always. Yesterday was a day of oops. Nate was up at the Iceman and in the lead group when his cleat broke off his shoe. They were about 8 miles into the race and he texted saying he was feeling good and looking forward to the race. He stuck it out pedaling with just 1 foot clipped in for the last 20 miles and finished 12th overall out of 60 plus racers. Good job Nate.

Maddie had her sectionals swim meet down at the Kenosha Recplex. Maddie was just in the 100 yard back stroke yesterday so it was a long day before see swam. But see took to the blocks and hit the water and was cruising along. She came out of her flip turn and hit her right arm on lane marker causing her to have to turn to the middle of the lane losing a second. So her time was just a .42 over her personal best. Still a great season as it was the first time Maddie swam ever mush less on any sport team. She worked hard took it serious and wanted to be the best she could. It showed as she set personal best times at every meet. So proud of her and and maybe we can get back on the bike and she will kick some butt on the road and trails too. Time to get the little bikes ready and head to the barn. Later..

Well the roofers are tearing the roof off today and I do have to say thanks as I feel sorry for them with this wind and over cast weather that they are dealing with. But I am glad that they are getting to it before the winter as there was a bunch of areas of concern up there. I hope they get most of the nails up that drop in the grass. Maybe I will have to pay the kids a nickle a nail to make sure that all of the nails are picked up.

Nate is getting ready for the Iceman race this weekend and I have to say the weather looks a ton better then last year when they raced and it was like 13 degrees when they started. The nice thing is they also race at noon this year instead of 8 in the morning so the trails and temps should be a ton better then in the past. Thanks to Hans and Ian for taking Nate again this year as he has alot of fun with you guys.

Maddie has her sectionals swim meet this weekend in Kenosha at the Rec Plex. Should be a fun time and alot of fast swimming this weekend. I think Maddie is in 1 event and that is the 100 backstroke and no relays this weekend. This morning was the Sheboygan cross race and Nate had to ride the Equalizer hill which has been made famous from the WORS races held there. Nate has made it up the hill since his early mtn bike race days since his ripe age of 9 yrs old. Well he kept it up as he made it up the hill all 3 times during the race today. He used the last time up to get a gap on Tad and rode away for the win. In the end it was Nate 1st, Tad 2nd and Max 3rd. Now it is time for Nate to get ready for the ICE MAN mtn bike race this weekend. Should be a fun one. Later..

Today was some cross racing and Maddie's Varsity Conference swim meet. In the morning we we at the as always Washington Park Halloween cross race. Nate toed the line for the Jr 15-18 yr old race and took the hole shot and kept a steady tempo for the win with Garrett 2nd and Max 3rd. Then it was run to Maddie's swim meet. She was in 3 events, a melody relay event which she was the first in with the backstroke and she pulled into the blocks in 2nd place and the team ended up 3rd. Then she hit the water in her 100 backstroke and won her heat and took 6 seconds off her time. Then it was the 100 freestyle and she took a 3rd in her heat and knocked almost 4 seconds off her best time. Great times watching her swim and Nate racing. Now it is time to hand out candy to kids I don't know. Later..

Been busy running here and there the last few days. On Tuesday it was ride and catch up on a few things around the house as Nate works at Rays on Sunday and Monday night so he does not get a ride after his races on Sundays. So was a few intervals and open the legs back up. Then yesterday was cross practice for Nate and he looks forward to going to the practice but has said that the turn out has gotten lighter each week but he will still keep going till he is the only one there. Also a thinks to Steve for taking Nate and Simon out for dinner after practice as he really enjoyed it.

I had a quick ride as I had to get out to Tosa West for a swim meet as Maddie had to swim 1 event as she has conference swim meet this weekend and I think she is in 3 events hence the fact that she only swam in 1 last night. Maddie was the anchor in a 200 yard freestyle that took a 2nd place. They were in 4th when she took to the water and made up a lot of distance to gather the 2nd place. On Saturday I think Maddie is in the Melody relay and then the 100 yard backstroke and the 100yard freestyle. So we are hoping for some good races. Then next week she has the sectionals and I think it will be the same events and maybe one more. But wow what a fast and fun year of swimming for her.

Jessie got a hamster last night as I finally gave in. One of her classmates was selling it as they were tired of it and were moving on to a different pet. So I gave in as they were giving a complete set up with it and I figure I have taken care of their fish, turtles, hermit crabs why not a rodent now. But it should be fun and the kids are having fun with it for now and I will take over in a few days when it wears off I guess. I also had a Dr appointment today with the dermatologist for a full body check for any more suspicious spots that may have been a concern. I got the all clear and now I don't have to back for another 3 months to make sure that all stays that way. But I still have a appointment with the cancer specialist to get the stitches out and his final OK too. Boy I have been to one Dr or another at least 3 times a week for the last 3 weeks, can't wait for this to end for a while.

Some good news today too was that Maddie is swimming i 1 event at the JV conference swim meet on Wednesday and then in 3 events at the varsity conference swim meet on Saturday and then in the sectionals after that. All I have to say is that I and so proud of her and how well she is doing considering that she just started swimming this year. Hopefully it turns into a good thing that she can maybe continue to swim in college too. Who knows how far she can or will take it. Later..

Here is a short film of Nate riding the steep hill during the race. He rode it every lap today and it looked like the faster was to go.

Today was the Sun Prairie cross race. Nate stayed with Max and a few team mates again at Max's families place in Lake Mills. Thanks again for the opportunity again for Nate to stay there. The weather this year at the race was a lot better then last year when it was like 10 degrees out and windy. This year it was about 40 degrees at the start of Nate's race and again like most of the Jr races the grass was still wet from the frosty night. As the race goes on though the grass and course dries out and gets faster as the laps click along. Nate took the hole shot and kept the pace steady increasing his lead each lap to win by a comfortable margin. I think that the fact that Nate was riding the steep hill helped him pad the lead as the other racers were running it and you could see the time lost running the hill. In the end it was Nate 1st, Gerrett 2nd, and Tad 3rd. Max was riding in the next group but crashed and broke a shift leaver and pulled out of the race. Next week is Halloween cross and the new race in Sheboygan. Should be another fun weekend of racing again. Later..

He decided not to race the cat 3 race as his back was still stiff from a combination of a cold and building the bmx track. But more racing tomorrow and then he gets to go to work after the race. Well I took the day off to get a few things done. I got alot done but I still had a few things I wanted to do but I just ran out of time. But in short I got the Volvo into the shop and for a check up and then ran to the bank before getting home around 9:30 for a quick cup of coffee. As I was finishing the coffee I heard a fire truck pull up in the street right in front of my house. I was thinking that there are about 6 out of 7 houses right around me have people that are at least 80 plus and I was thinking that maybe one of my neighbors may have needed some help. But it was my next door neighbors that did. Well their house did. they both teach with Cece and Amondo was at school and Rebecca was with the kids at the store ( they kids had a day off today ). But the firemen got off the truck as I walked out the front door and were walking around their house looking in the windows. Then they got the axes out and were looking at the doors and I asked what they were going to do. They said that they had a fire alarm and were going to get into the house by breaking the doors down. I said that I had a set of keys and that I would rather they got in their house that way instead of ruining some doors and costing them a bunch of money. It worked and once I opened the back door you could smell the smoke from inside the house. But in short they walked out in about 5 seconds with a toaster oven that Isabella had left a few waffles in before they ran to the store. That was were the smoke was from as the waffles were about 2 minutes away from starting a fire in the kitchen causing a real big issue. But as I was turning the alarm off Rebecca and the kids got home in tears and the firemen told them that all was OK. The firemen and Rebecca were happy that I was home to save the doors and some money.

After the fun next door it was time to hit the chore list. I got the ladder out and cleaned the gutters, seen the roof and I have to get on that fast before winter as many areas are to close to failure and I need to gt a new roof up there asap. Then it was get the leaf blower out and clear the leaves, cut some old flowers and other garden things cleared up. Then it was wash the cars and truck before Nate and I went for a spin on the mtn bikes. After that it was a nice dinner with Cece, Nate and Jessica as Maddie is out with some friends at a haunted house some where. After dinner is was go over Nate's cross bikes for this weekends races and finally now I get to sit down. Well time for some sleep as I feel a cold coming on and I am hoping to try to keep it away. Our Little Fish

Last night was another night of watching the St Francis/St Thomas More girls swim team. The girls are all awesome swimmers and they are doing well. Maddie had a good night as her 400 yard melody relay took a 3rd place and then her 200 yard freestyle relay took a 3rd place. Then she swam her 50 yard freestyle and took a 2nd place, the timers tried to pull a fast one by timing one of their swimmers touching the wall first but the officials and coach Shannon caught the error and Maddie got her hard earned 2nd place. Then Maddie had her 100 yard backstroke and to make sure that the timers did not try pull a fast one again she won the 100 yard backstroke by 8 seconds and was out of the water by the time the last few finished the race. She is looking good and enjoying herself which is awesome. I hope to make a few more swim meets and see her win a few more races. Later..

All Gone

I got the news form the cancer Dr that the biopsy report form the procedure that he performed last Wednesday got 100% of the Melanoma. I was pretty sure that when he was talking to me after the procedure that he got it all and so was he, but you still have to hear it to believe it. I am just glad that I went in and asked my primary Dr about a spot on my forehead and that I was worried that a spot on my shoulder was beginning to show a irregular shape lately too. So I got a appointment with a dermatologist and he looked at both and was concerned with the spot on the shoulder not the head. But instead of a biopsy he removed it on a Monday and sent it in for a test and that is when we found out it was Melanoma cancer on Tuesday and then on Wednesday the cancer Dr removed a larger area to ensure all the Melanoma was removed all done with in 3 days and today was the news that it all was gone. Now that is news that I can live with. So in short watch any moles or spots and if they change in shape or color get them looked at ASAP. The spot I had has not seen sun other then a few minutes a year in 30 years and it turned out to be Melanoma not the light colored dry skin spot that got sun for repeated hours a day. Take care of yourself as I was just lucky that I caught it early as it is the highest mortality rate type of cancer. 100% GONE, OH YEAH......Later...

New trail

Here is the new trail left on the shoulder after the Melanoma Surgery the other day. I guess the Dr said that he like to make sure that the area taken along with the Melanoma is at least 1+ cm. He looked at the area marked from the surgery Monday and he was not confident that enough was taken along with the Melanoma. So he didn't even take the stitches out before he removed a a larger area as he cut them out along with the larger area. I think that it is healing fine and looking pretty good so far. I didn't get the lab report form the surgery on Wednesday yet and was told to call Monday if had not heard anything, but I am thinking that if it were any concerns that the Dr's office would had contacted me by know. So no news is good news right? Nothing else really new except that Nate and I were out in Elkhorn and helped build the new indoor track Friday and Saturday. Nate helped alot as I was the go for this and that guys. I pushed a few mounds of dirt around but I did not get to help near as much in the past because of the surgery on Wednesday. But I have to say that the track is nice and it should be another fun indoor race season. Can't wait to get out on the track as it looked fun. Plus now Rays will have to wait a little as the would take a toll on my shoulder for sure but I have all winter to gt there. Well back to work tomorrow but I have some restrictions for a few weeks or longer till the wound heals, oh well. Later..

The shoulder is feeling good and just changed the dressing and the stitches and wound area are looking good. So all I have to do is behave and keep the area clean so no infection and all should be good. The pain has been a comfortable numb and I have been able to deal with by only taking a few pain pills so that is a good sign.

Maddie had her swim meet yesterday and she had a good night as she won her 50 yard freestyle and her 100 yard backstroke. She has also knocked a few more seconds off her times and looks like she is getting stronger each meet so that is a good sign. Just happy that she is enjoying so much and that she is doing so well. Nothing else going on so now i just need to get my butt in bed and rest my shoulder. Later..

Healing

I have to say that healing is a pain. Well the pain is from the fact that a chunk of my shoulder is missing but again it is a pain that I can live with knowing that it means that the Melanoma is gone. But the good thing is that the pain means that the process of healing has started and I hope that I don't need to go back for anymore. I will have a bunch of follow ups with the Dr's and they will keep me posted on the results but as of now I am cancer free and that is fine with me. All I have to say is that day time tv is not good and I will have to have Jessie show me how to order NetFix on the tv so the day will go by better as I sit here. Tonight Maddie has a swim meet and I am going to try to go and watch her as long as the pain is good. Well maybe I will take a few extra pain meds and then the swim meet might even be more fun. Clear sailing

My new bigger longer scar from the nice Dr today that he left me after removing the rest of the Melanoma. This is a scar that I can live with, thanks Doc.

I had a appointment today with a cancer specialist to go over options for my Melanoma. He said that the pathology report stated that the Melanoma was only 2.1 mm deep meaning that we caught it in the early stages and that he was able to cut more skin and muscle away in the medical center and remove all of the Melanoma. Since it was still between the 2 - 4 mm we did not have to have the lymph nodes tested or any of the scans to see if it spread as he said there was less then a 1% chance that it did spread. So the Dr asked if I minded if he did right away and we got it over with. I said lets do it and we did and now I am relaxing as I know that the pain is going to kick in soon and Cece is at her haircut and the prescription for pain meds is at Walgreens till she gets home. I can wait and who knows as I may not even take any if the pain starts anyhow. The other good thing is I have off from work till Monday and I also have a lot of restrictions for lifting things, no raking, lawn mowing, no vacuuming, oh the fun that am getting out of. But the good thing is that I am now cancer free again. Later..

Mole that was removed and found to be Melanoma.

What it looked like after I was sliced to remove it.

So I went the Dr the other day as I was concerned about a spot on my fore head that had gotten darker and a little bigger then I had liked. Cece and I had also become alittle concerned about a mole on my shoulder that was becoming irregular in shape. So I went in on Friday and the dermatologist looked at the spot on the fore head and said that was just a spot that the sun made stand out mire and the treatment was to freeze it and that would take care of it. But the one on the shoulder was causing him some concern and he said at first that he wanted to do a biopsy and can back to the room 2 minutes later saying no biopsy that he wanted to remove the spot. So Monday I went back and the Dr froze the spot on the fore head and then cut out the spot on the shoulder and sent it in for a check asap on the results. Well yesterday I got the results and it was Melanoma and now I have to see some specialist Dr's to first get the rest of the area removed and then check to see if the cancer has spread to any other places. Just hope that it is localized and that I only have to have more of the area removed but I guess I will do what ever they say and go from there. I will keep you posted. Later..

It was another great day for a cross race. Perfect temps at about 70 degrees at the start and sunny. Nate took to the line and when the race was off he took the hole shot with Garrett on his wheel. That is the way it was for the rest of the race as Nate kept the pace at a high enough tempo that he and Garrett just rode away from the rest of the field. At the end Nate jumped the last straight and took the win with Garrett in 2nd and Max in 3rd. Then it was load the bikes so we could get home so Cece could cut Nate's hair and he could have a early dinner and get to work at Rays. I got the cana lilies cut yesterday and I dug the bulbs out today with the help of Jessie. Maddie went to Pulaski pool and did a swim work out with a few of her team mates. Oh well time to get a few other chores done and relax for the night. Later..

Today was the cross race in Grafton and Nate decided to just ride the Jr race as we have been in recovery mode for the last few weeks until we start to amp it up before the last few big races. But in short Nate got the hole shot and stayed in the front till the end and took the win today. Tonight Nate is staying with Max at their family place in Lake Mills. So I have to just get to the Cam Rock race in time for Nate's race. He has everything for the race but I do have to wash his kit so he has it at the race. He does have a spare with him but he left his race numbers on his dirty kit so I have to get there with those for sure. I watched the USGP race in Colorado as it looked like the USGP race here a few weeks ago. Rain, cold and mud. I am glad that I don't have to replace more stuff after another mud race. Oh well time to relax as no one is home as Cece is still gone from her ride with some of her teacher friends, Maddie is at a bin fire, and Jessie is at a friends house. I love the quiet house. So after sitting on my butt all day on Monday and Tuesday John showed me some extra trails at Lowes Creek park. That was a blast to ride the trails that we race on and then ride so many other ones and the race course in the opposite direction. Those trails are I think great in the other direction then the race direction. Then on the Tuesday we went to a new park called Northwest Park and rode around there for a few hours. Thanks John for the great riding.

Then on Wednesday I got home in time to watch Maddie swim at New Berlin West. She was on the Medley relay race and was first with the back stroke, she was leading and then kicking off the wall her feet slipped and she lost a little bit of the time but held her own. Then in the 100 meter back she won her race by 7 plus seconds, she was flying and looked strong through out her race. And then her last race was the 100 meter fly and she was the anchor leg and she made up most of the time that some of her team mates lost to finish 3rd. I am really happy that she is enjoying swimming and so glad that she went out for the swim team, just wish she did 2 years ago. But better late then never.

Tonight was a great night for a night ride with a bunch of great people. I just wish I had a few more minutes to get there and get ready as traffic getting there had me just a few minutes before the ride took off. But I got there and only had them wait a few minutes and then it was riding. The trails were perfect and the temps made the ride so enjoyable that I could have ridden all night. Have to try and fit a few more night rides in before the weather changes. Later..

After the crash in the Jr race the day before Nate decided to just race the cat 3 race as his hand was still hurting. He had a good start and hand the hole shot and on the hill run up he ran and Tim rode it. Nate was able to hold the lead but slowly fell back in the field as the course a lot of punchy efforts and they took a tool on him. He slid back to 11th at the end. He had a good race and the said he was still tired from the 2 races on the day before. Thanks go out to the teams that put on 2 great races over the weekend as both were well run and both courses were fun to watch and race.

After the race it was off to Rays for Nate to work and me to ride for 6 hours. I have to say after standing for 2 days that my body was tired but the riding at Rays was fun and the changes were cool. A few finishing touches when done should Make the riding more enjoyable when done. Now I am on my way to Eau Claire for work and as always 3 days away put me a week worth of work behind at work and home. Oh well just have to roll with it I guess. The bad thing is I miss Maddie's swim meet tonight and hopefully I get home in time to make the swim meet on Wednesday night. Oh well I hope the Teresa gets me there safe today and doesn't get a speeding ticket as we cruise along at 80mph on the way there. Later..

Nate Had a good start in the jr race and then going into the 2nd turn he rolled his tubular off his front tire and hit the ground hard. He got up and ran about half a lap to the pits and got his pit bike and started the chase. He was dead last of all the jrs including the 10-14 year olds. He worked his way through all of them and then chased to about 10 seconds behind Gage in 4th to end up 5th. He was banged up and hurt his hand pretty good to the point that his pinkie is starting to swell up and is hard to bend. But he did toe the line for the cat 3 race and had a good race ending up 9th after burning a lot of matches to chase in the jr race. Now it is time to recover and get some rest and get ready to race tomorrow. After that it is of toe work for Nate at Rays and play time for me at Rays. But after the race I got home and had to cut the grass and wash the truck and cars. But the good thing was Cece had a great dinner ready once Nate and I got done with the car and truck washing. Ride'n and Swimming

I tried to think back to when it was the last time that Nate has not trained or raced. Maybe a 7 years as we go from BMX in the winter to road and bmx in the spring, to road, track, mtn bike and BMX during the summer and then cross and bmx in the fall. So this week it is just a few efforts and then more races over the weekend. It is just a small break and then back to the full on training again for the later goals that have been set. Plus Nate has to work 3 to 4 nights a week right now as he has the best job a bike racer could have. He works at Rays indoor mtn bike park. What a lucky kid to be able to work at his play ground.

Tomorrow is another swim meet for Maddie as she has a duel meet against Shorewood which is nice as Nate and I will be at the cross practice at a park in the area of the swim meet. Maddie has to swim in 4 events again and she is really enjoying being on the swim team and is glad she went out for the team. Hopefully we can pick a swim club and she can get more time in a pool to help her get faster and her strokes, breathing and flip turns become better. But I am looking forward to getting to watch her swim again. Time for me to look over some material for my Weight and Measures conference that I am going to next week. Later..

Cross weeekend USGP style.

Here are a few pictures form the weekend of racing. The top are form yesterday and it was dry and real sweet racing. Nate had a mechanical with his handle bars slipped forward and he was to far over the bars causing him to crash. He crashed 3 times but chased to have a sprint for 4th and 5th with Mitch. Then today it was a mud fest and Nate raced well and rolled in for a 4th place. It was a fun race to watch and cheer the racers on as they suffered.

The USGP series is a great run race but I do have 1 issue and that is that the Jr's start behind the Master 45 plus racers and these 17-18 year old kids are fast and catch them early and have to battle the masters and that causes a poor situation for the jr racers as some master racers move over and some don't. I think that it is easier for a handful of the master racers to pass a few of the slower jr racers them 10 plus jrs having to battle each other and 75 plus master racers. I will send a email to them to voice the situation and see what they say. Now I need to get my feet up after washing 5 bikes after the race and then going over Nate's 2 bikes when I got home. Today was another swim meet for Maddie. This time it was at Cudahy and Maddie had to swim 3 events again tonight. See looked really good and I seen a lot of improvement since her last meet on Saturday. She took a 2nd in her 5o yard fly even though she missed the horn going off as it was real quiet. She was the last into the water and then missed first by .21 seconds. Maddie then swam the 100 yard backstroke and won that event and then she swam on the 4x100 yard freestyle and her team won that event. In the end St Francis / St Thomas More won the dual meet. I have to say it was fun to watch the swim meet tonight and I will have to try to make a bunch of the other meets too.

Nate started his job tonight. I think he has his dream job as it is working at Rays. What a gig if you ask me. Well I think all of you that will be going there are going to really like the new layout and of course you are going to be seeing alot him there. Here is a sequence of pictures from the start of one of the races at Gate Way cup in St Louis. I asked Nate about it and he said in the first few races he went hard in the first few laps to open up the legs and cause the racers that just hanging on to suffer and pop. So I guess Nate does have a plan at some of the races and maybe I will stop asking him why are you doing this and that and just let him race his race as he maybe knows what he is doing. Nothing else is going on here except a lot of orthodontist and dentist visits. Later..

Swimming

Here are a few pictures from Maddie at the swim meet the other day. I was the first time ever for me at a swim meet and it was fun but yet interesting. I guess I am used to the type of swimming you see at the Olympics, fast moving and quiet. All I have to say is that girls make a lot of noise and they chant some crazy stuff. I did notice that the ones who made a lot of noise where not the best teams in there. I have to say that if these girls concentrated on their swimming as much as their chanting they may swim a lot better. Maddie and her team where not wasting their time chanting and looking like pom pom girls, they were there to swim and get it done. But in all it was interesting watching Maddie as it is her first year of swim and she never swam before either. She has picked it up quickly and is doing real well. I am glad that she has gone out for swim and I wish she had her freshman year but better late then never. I don't know her results as it was a relay event and they don't post them anywhere that I know of, But I will try to make as many as I can to cheer her and the team on.

Nate went to the ABR team time trial national championships to ride with Max, Matt and Sam on a 4 man team. They never rode together and they did real well as they took 2nd place. The first [lace team was Garrett, Kaleb, Kevin and Peter and they beat Nate's team by 3 minutes and then the 3rd place was 14 minutes behind Nate's team. But he had fun and said it was worth the trip and as always a fun time hanging with the ISCorp gang for a few days. Later..

Here is a picture of Nate that we had made by Easy Canvas Prints. They do an awesome job of taking a picture and putting it on canvas and we are super happy with how it turned out. Nate liked this print as he is sprinting away from the field for on e of the primes at the State Championship crit race and looking back at the field. Here is a photo from the weekend racing in St Louis. This is from the race on Sunday when Nate won the race. This is the sprint to the finish and Nate played it right to where he used up the other 2 guys to out sprint them to the line for the win.

Tonight was the last Beat Down ride as the sun is going away to fast and the Fat Tire 40 is next week and some of the riders are gone for the race. But if you want to have a ride go for it and have fun. But the ride was a fast one tonight as Luke and the gang kept it real and the pace high and smooth making it nice and Easier for me to hang on. But as always when the group rides are done it means one thing, time to charge the lights and get ready for some night rides. Well time for some pot pies and Packers. Later..

Well after making the trip to St Louis to get the rear derailluer hanger to Nate and to have him race the last race in the Gate Way cup I had to stay home today with a eye infection. But the trip with Richard and Jessica was a fun time and well worth it. Nate was in the leaders jersey so the trip to watch him race worth the 15 hours of driving in a 24 hour period. Kaleb ended up taking 3rd in the race and then Nate in 12th and Kevin in 22nd in the race. We left after the race as we had a 7 hour drive back and Nate would have been tied in the points from what we figured with the overall omnium lead but we got his payout and jersey and left. But like I said it was worth the trip to get the chance to watch the boys race and all the laughs in the truck on the way home. Now I need to get more eye drops in the sore eye. Later..

Win / Road Trip

Got the message and the phone call today that Nate took the win at the Gate Way cup race today. There was a crash in the race that took a bunch out again and Nate toasted his carbon wheel set again so he is on his regular wheels tomorrow. But the big bummer is that the SRAM support guy slammed the support wheel out by pounding on the top of it and broke Nate's rear deraiuiler hanger off the bike. I thought I tossed some in his bag but Nate can't find them so I am going to drive to St Louis and take one to him. I am making the trip as Randy has to head home and Nate would miss the race tomorrow and with his win today he is in the leaders jersey so there is no way that I would want him to miss the last race. I am also bringing Kaleb and Kevin home as they want to race tomorrow and would have had to leave too. So on way down I will pick up Richard ( Kaleb's Dad ) for the ride down and back. Nice to have someone to drive with me and Jessie wants to go so it should be a fun road trip. Got to get ready to leave for the 6 1/2 hour drive. Later..

Been a little busy here with the start of school and getting Nate off to St Louis with the Roth family and a few of the ISCorp Jr kids. Thanks Randy for taking Nate. Nate raced yesterday and was trying to move up in the later of the race and failed to and the result was a 21st place finish. He said he had good legs and was feeling good but was disappointed in his finish as was goint to try to make up for it today. Well he did as he took a 2nd place and Kaleb a 3rd, Peter 14th and Kevin 23rd. More racing tomorrow and hopefully a solid race again.

Maddie has had swim practice and they painted the locker room last night and today. She went to the St Thomas More game today and it presently tired and I think in bed. Her first meet is Thursday and I am looking forward to attending and seeing this thing they call a swim meet. Should be a fun time and I hope she does well.

Jeesie has just been happy that school started and she gets to hang out with her friends again. Last night a few of her friends were at the St Francis Days festival so Cece and I took her there and watched as Jess and her friends run around doing all the games and playing on the Bungee jump, mechanical bull and many other really cool kid actives. Oh yeah we now have a goldfish that she won there, I wonder how that thing will live?

Cece has been busy with school starting and running around now as she is the math teacher leader for 3 school instead of just 1 now. That is going to keep her pretty busy and running everyday for the school year.

I did the Thursday ride and with the heat and some miss timed being in the wrong spot at the wrong time I pulled the plug and Danny, Kyle and myself rolled the ride by ourselves and had a solid ride. Yesterday I had a furlough day so after dropping the girls off at school I went to Lenn's and paid for some things and then went for a nice ride a Crystal Ridge. The trails were in great shape and it was fun running into some other riders that I have not seen in a while. Then today I was talked into going to the kettles. I thought better but went anyhow as it was fine at the start and the trails were a little wet but we go across and were part of the way to Emma and skies opened up and we got off at a road crossing a headed back to the parking lot talking the road back. I think that they may be closed for sure tomorrow and maybe Monday after the rain that we got caught in. Going to be a nice easy ride with Cece and the girls tomorrow. Just pulling the fixie out and riding with them and maybe stopping at the coffee shop during the ride. So that is what is happening. Later..

Finally the summer is over and the punks go back to school tomorrow. I am happy for that as they will be in a structure again and using their brains ( the little that they have ). It will be a strange year for Nate and Maddie as we transferred them from St Tomas More to St Francis High School. I was a long thought out and tough decision as Nate is a Sr and Maddie a Jr. so I knew that would be a lot tougher on them and then anything as they would be starting over making friends and getting used a new school. But we talked to the guidance adviser and she was awesome and helped us feel very comfortable with the new school. So both Nate and Maddie are great and looking forward to starting school tomorrow with a great attitude about the transfer. Thanks Nate and Maddie for being so great about the transfer. Jessie is in her 2nd year at Deer Creek and she is looking forward to getting back to school and seeing all her friends, oh to be 9 years old again.

Nate is lucky though as he is only going a half day tomorrow and missing Friday to race the Gate Way Cup in St Louis. What a way to start the school year though for Nate. But Cece talked to the administration staff and they are supportive of his missing to go racing. So that makes the new school cool right off the start.

Maddie is loving swim and it has been a blast to see her face and attitude about being on the team. She has picked up the breathing and the strokes real quick even though it was her Jr year that she decided to go out. Thanks to Grandpa who worked with her up north on the strokes and breathing during the few weeks she was up there. It made a huge difference to her doing so well right away at practice. Her first swim meet is next week Thursday and I can't wait to go and watch and see how well she does. I just love seeing kids doing any healthy sport, just love it. Well time to get a few kids ready for their first back to school. Later..

They raced it 45 minutes later after winning the Jr race. I bet they were tired but they raced it as hard as any other race and placed 5th. They were in the mix from the start and gave it their all till the end. This was the first time that Nate was on his cross bike this year and what a way for it begin. Thanks Jeremey for taking the kids to the race and being the support crew for the day. I went for a 41 mile ride today at a easy tempo that got me home a few tics over 2 hours. I do have to say that it is nice when Nate is on the ride and pulling my sorry butt instead of me having to suck it up into the wind like today. But if he is racing and enjoying the race it is better then pulling me around. I hope that the kids enjoy their last 3 days of summer vacation as they start school on Thursday. Then on Friday I have to pull Nate out of school as he is going to Gate Way cup over the weekend so that should be fun. I need to get some burgers on the grill and watch Jersey Shore with Maddie ( 1/2 hour of my life lost for sure ). Later..

Well I am cooked as I have been testing the fuel trucks and the de-icer trucks at the airport. So if any one flying out of Mitchell Field airport can be assured that they have enough fuel to get to their destination and when the snow is falling that you are getting enough de-icer to keep the snow off your planes. But 5 days of 8 hours in the sun has me cooked and tired. But I am glad that the weekend is here and I get to go for some long steady rides and some time in the pool. Nate is going to go to Chicago and race the xXx cross relay with Gage. It is going to be a long day as they are racing the Jr race and then an hour later they are racing the cat 1,2,3 race. I wish them luck.

Other then that Maddie has been having swim practice and today she has been moved up to the next level and has her practice upped by 2,000 yards a day to make it 8,000 yards a practice plus the starts and turns tossed in. I wish Maddie would had gone out for swim her freshman year but later is better then never giving it a try. I think that she is liking it and the structure is perfect and the team has welcomed her so that is nice. Can't wait to go to her first swim meet.

Jessie well I can't walk anywhere in the play room upstairs as she has all he Barbie's and every thing that goes with them out. I mean you can't even walk around up there without tripping on something. But it is all good as soon school is going to start and that means that the toys are going to have to be put away and then the books will be out.

Cece had a rummage sale the last 2 days and like always we sold some things but sat around alot and said again this is the last time. Then when it was over today we loaded the stuff that she did not sell into the truck and took it to Goodwill. Not even a chance of it coming back into the house this time. But other then that not much going on other then I am cooked from 8 hours a day in the sun testing meters. Time for some ice cream to try to bring the temps on the fore head down. Later..

Well as always things are getting a little busy here as Cece is getting ready for the new school year and also the kids are getting ready for the new school year at a new school. Teacher will be a math teacher leader for several schools instead of 1 school this year and that will keep her busy for sure. Jessie will be in 5th grade this year and tonight Jess and I went to her school and found out who her teacher will be for next year. Jessie is still excited about going to school and I am sure that this will change in a few years as it did for Nate and Maddie. This year it is Nate's Senior year and we transferred him to St Francis instead of finishing at ST Thomas More as the cost was way to much. It was a tough one and I have to say that Nate is a great kid and has handled it so awesome that he has made Cece and I so proud. He said that it would not had been fair if Maddie was going to go to St Francis for her Jr and Sr year and he finished his Sr year at St Thomas More. Also Maddi has been awesome to about the transfer to. Maddie has also gone out for the swim team and the ironic thing is that it is a combined team with ST Thomas More so Maddie still gets to hangout with many of her friends and made some new friends from St Francis. Cool.

Monday we went out to eat with Tim and Ken for Maddie's 16th Birthday. As always it was a fun time and we enjoyed good food and alot of laughs. The food and atmosphere at the Cafe Benelux is awesome and if you gt a chance you have to go there and sit on the open seating on the roof. Then last night Nate and I loaded the bikes and hit the track for some racing. Nate raced the 10-12 yr olds in the same gear that they race on which is a 76 inch gear. The kids got a 3/4 lap head start and then Nate, Kaleb, Robbie, Jake chased. The little kids head them off and beat then which was a blast to watch. Then he did the main event and took a 6th place. In the jr miss and out he took a 2nd and then the rain started and then we waited for a while and just said heck with it and hit Big Star with Billy, Simon, Kaleb, Sarah and her friend for some burgers. As we finished and drove past the track they were still racing and we were a little bummed that we packed and left but were still happy that we were going to be home early. More track racing will have to wait till next year as this weekend Nate is racing the cross relay with Gage in Chicago so that means Nate won't be able to defend his ABR National title from last year. Good luck to those racing at the Washington Bowl this weekend. Well time for some ice cream. Later..

Amazing how many people are at the games. Just crazy and really how could the owners complain that they don't make any money as there are crazy people spending tons of money at these games. Not us though.

I had a busy couple of days even though Nate did not have any races. We thought about the Race the Lake but he said that he wanted a weekend off so that is what we did. Plus with 1,800 racers at all abilities and worst of all throw in some tri athletes in that never makes a good thing. But Friday was a Packer game with Jess and then yesterday it was a nice with Nate with some relaxing at night. Today was a nice family ride along the lake as the weather was perfect. Then Nate and I washed our road and mtn bikes as they were filthy from the last few rides. Now it is time to sit and get my feet up. Fast and fun weekend. Later..

Well Friday got here and for once there is not a race to drive to. Last night was the Beat Down and as always there was a large group of riders making for a nice ride. Nate took to the front a few times trying to get someone to go with him for a flyer but he got no takers. But in the end it was a brisk fun one and I can not not believe that there is only 2 or 3 more left. Today is going to be a fun night as Nate and I are going to the Packer game as a friend from work sold us some of their season tickets. Should be a fun game even if it is only a preseason game. Then for the weekend it is some nice long steady long rides for Nate and I. So see you on the road. Later..

Last night Nate and I hit up the Gun Show after a few weeks break for racing and riding camps. It was a nice night to was ride with the gang again. But the gang was not a nice gang as they kept me on the rivet the entire ride. With the help of Nate and many others I was able to make the entire ride again. Let me tell you that the fact of rolling in with the group is something that in the beginning of the year I thought was only a dream but with some hard riding and of course some help with a guys pulling me back up to the group I love this ride. But in the end this ride is one that is fast and fun and if that is your goal of being either fast or having fun come and join us for a ride. Later..

This is just a bunch of pictures from the races this week end. Nate raced on Saturday in Manitowac in the Jr 16-18 and the cat 3. He took 2nd in both races. Sunday was the ABR National Championships in W infield Illinois. Nate raced the Jr 17-18 and the Pro 1,2,3. He won the National Championship in the Jr 17-18 and then won the cat 3 as they had to race with the Pro 1,2,3 and their placing was then hoe they finished with in the race. Nate also was top 10 out of the Pro 1,2 3 total field out of about 70 plus starters. Good weekend of racing. Later..
