A little helping hand.

Maddie and I went to gas up her car and as I was gassing it up a lady was walking through asking if anyone had a jack that her husband could use to change a flat tire.  I did tell her that the one in the car was buried under cases of water in Maddie's trunk ( really it was ).  I then went in the store to buy some crap and on the way out I told her that I would run home and bring my floor jack and help them.  Maddie said I bet they thought I was not coming back,  but only being 4 blocks away I was back in no time.  I jacked the car up and then we changed the flat after he broke one of the nuts off the bolt.  They thanked me a million times and offered some money and I told them their thanks was enough and pay it forward.  Really how could I go home and sit on my ass and know that someone needed help to get home.  Now I need to have a bowl of ice cream and pack for my 3 day conference.  Later..

Fat Tire 40 tandem

Another Chequamegon Fat Tire 40 in the books.  Greg and I raced the tandem and were able to pull off a 3rd overall place finish.  It was a good race and we were gaining on the 2nd place tandem with 6 miles to go and when we hit a done hill I shifted and cross chained it and dropped the chain.  My bad but there is always  next year to rock it again.  Thanks Jerry for the use of the tandem and Greg for hanging on while I dirve it like a crazy man.

Nate on the track over the weekend

Cool Picture that Nate's room mate Vance's Mom took of Nate of the track over the weekend.

This last weekend was the Midwest Regional conference track championships and the Marian University team won.  It was a shortened weekend of racing do to the rain but the team still pulled out the team win.  Way to go racers.  Now Nate is skipping the Fat Tire 40 as he has to leave for the Collegiate National Championships for track racing.  The team is leaving on Monday to get to Texas and get some time on the track and get prepared for the Collegiate Nationals.  They hope to defend their title and have a few National Champs.  Good Luck guys and a safe travels.  Later..

Been a busy week

Been a busy week and it has had me riding once since Tuesday.  Maddie had a swim Meet on Wednesday at Cudahy and it was her first time swimming the 500 meter freestyle.  She did good once she stopped and got her goggles back on.  Good thing that it was long race and she was able to get going and then catch and take the lead and go on to win her race.  Nice to see her keep her composure and still roll.  Then she also did good in her other events and I think took a 2nd and then  2nd in the relay too?

Then it was the South Milwaukee relays yesterday.  Her first relay took a 2nd but was disqualified for 1 of the swimmers leaving early.  Then her other relay took a 5th and then the last relay she was on took a 3rd.  It was a nice meet and she swam great.

Today was a nice ride on the Des Plains trail in Illinois.  Got a nice 55 miles in on the gravel and it was a nice way to sweat out the PBR's from last night.  We also ran into Brad while on the ride and he rode back with us.  What a perfect day for a ride as the weather was ideal and the trails were also, not dusty this time.  Now it is time to get the legs up and relax.  Later..

Some pic's of Nate from over the weekend

Nate came home for the weekend and brought his roommate Vance and another cycling teammate Logan along for the ride.  They raced the track Firday night and then showered up and drove up here and arrived at 3:30 am on Saturday.  We rode mtn bikes as they only had room in the car for 1 bike and niether Vance or Logan had mtn bikes.  I set up my spare bikes and took them to Crystal Ridge on Saturday and then Russell took them for a tour of the Tosa trails on Sunday.  As you see from the pictures it was their first time on the dirt and they did hit the dirt a few times.  But by Sunday afternoon they were riding awesome and having a blast on the dirt.  Then it was Monday already and they loaded up and were back on the road to Marian.  The weekend went fast and it may not be until Chrostmas that we see Nate again as he has racing every weekend until then and then right after the holidays it will be the cross National championships.  But before that he will have the Track Nationals and the Mtn bike nationals.  Boy will he be a busy boy for a while.  But it was awesome to have Nate around and it went to fast but we are going to try to make it to a race if Maddie has a open weekend of swim meets too.  Well time to have a bowl of ice cream.  Later..
