Last weekend of racing the barn for the winter

Great pictures taken by Sam...

It was the last weekend of racing at the Barn in Elkhorn for the indoor season.  Again it felt like we just built the track and now I am heading out there to take it down.  I think that it was a good build this year as it made everyone race with in their ability or crash.  This weekend I made both mains and took a 2nd again in cruiser and a then a 4th in 20 inch.  I enjoy racing the little bikes and will miss it as always when the weather turns to riding outside and when Nate has his races it is road riding and racing.  Again thanks to the Dickerson family for the awesome indoor season of bmx racing and I can't wait until next year.  Now Coach Fixxie says ride the big bikes and get ready for the Gun Show and the Beat down.  Later..

Some fun racing over the weekend

Cool pictures taken by Sam.

Over the weekend I raced at the barn on both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday was a double point race and then on Sunday was the Red Line Qualifier.   On Saturday I took a 3rd in both the cruiser and the 20 inch races.  Then on Sunday I went to the Kenosha Velosport teams race in Silver Lake to check it out and help Ian get ready for his first race.  Man was it cold out there and I have to give props to Ian for racing his first road race in that cold.  He was a tad nervous but in no time the race started and he looked good coming past.  In the end he took a solid 2nd place and is looking forward to more road races.  After Ian was done I got in the car and headed to the barn for some bmx racing in the warm indoors.  Glad I did as I was frozen after watching Ian race.  There was a ton of racers at the barn as it was a triple pointer and we had a full rack in the 20 inch and 7 in the cruiser.  Man there are a lot of old guys racing little bikes.  I took a 3rd place in the cruiser and then after a crash in the 20 inch which I was able to get through some how.  I think it is my cat like reflexes and luck I took 5th in the 20inch when the dust settled.  It was fun and sorry Paul for running  your head and hands over.  I the end the good thing is that everyone was ok after the race and thanks to Sam we have some awesome pictures of the crash to laugh at for a long time to come.  This Sunday is the last indoor race of the season and man it feel like we just built the track yesterday.  But one of these days the weather should turn and we will be riding our bikes outside and racing in warm weather.  Not much else except I am sick of the cold weather we have.  See you on the road soon.  Later..

Weekend

Pictures of me racing thanks to Sam.

Nothing really went on that was interesting during last week except that I had to shovel again.  But over the weekend myself,  Maddie and Jessie and I went to the Rock Sports complex to check out the winter carnival.  It was warm and raining off and on so the snow was crappy and slow but it was still fun to go and check it out.  The girls went tubing and sat back and watched as I did not want to with my luck hurt myself.  After that it was chill at home and sew all of Fixxies damaged toys before bed.  On Sunday it was more bmx racing and as always close but a spot away from winning.  I took  2nd in cruiser and a 3rd in the 20 inch.  Have to go back this weekend and try again for the win.  Other then that Nate is on spring break in Tennessee riding with the Marian Cycling team riding in the mountains somewhere.  I hope he is having fun.  Maddie has to decide where she wants to go to college and hopefully we can do that in the next few days.  Later..

DePauw races from the weekend

We decided on Friday that we would drive to Indiana to watch Nate race over the weekend.  We were hoping for a little warmer weather but that was not the case.  We drove through some snow on the way there and then for the road race on Saturday they were racing in some snow showers for 72 miles.  Cece and Jess were in the car with Coach Nate from Marian following the Mens A race and then were asked to be the lead car for the womens race as there was a break and then no lead car for them.  Lucky them as they were in the warm car and I stayed back and was in the feed zone to do bottle hand ups for the women and men from Marian.  What a fun time. The Marian women blasted for the win and then 3,4 also.   Then the men also took several top spots too.  Then we went to the ttt and the men and women teams won both of those to.  After the races we went back to Indy and went out to eat to a cool restaurant before heading back to catch some sleep before  the races on Sunday.  We got to the races to catch some of the other teammates race and then watch the women's race and they again took the win and the other top spots.  Then it was time to catch Nate's race.  The first few laps were real fast and several guys tried to get a break and then several got away and they stayed away for the rest of the race.  Nate was active and covered several attempts of others to get away before a group of 5 got away and then they all blew up when Alex took off on them and the field was able get the others before the finish and Nate was able to pull a 15th place finish after the work he was doing during the races on both days.  We were so happy that we went to the races and hope to catch a few more later this spring.  Now back to the snow and bmx racing for me.  Later..
