Nate's first race's of ToAD

After a few days to recover and get his bearings back from the Nationals trip it was time to toe the line at the Tour of America's Dairyland race in Sheboygan.  First up was the Jr race that was nice to see a larger field for once, there was 44 racers in the race.  The race was off to a bad start as in turn 2 of the first lap there was a crash that took a few racers out.  Then they stopped the race to get a few loaded up into the rescue squad for a trip to the hospital for a check up.  Good news was that they are all ok.  Then there was a bunch of attacks during the rest of the race and with the temps around 100 degrees the racers looked tired and Nate just sat in and waited till the end.  There was afield sprint finish and he took 2nd in the 17-18 yr olds.  Then after a few hours to recover Nate was back on the bike in the cat 2/3 race.  Again it was like 98 degrees and this time there was 98 racers at the start.  Nate sat in and moved up and then back to the middle and then moved up to the top 10 for the final lap.  He was boxed in and then had to move out and got a spot and finished 7th in the cat 2/3 race.  More racing tomorrow in Fon Du Lac.   Later..

National update

It was a brutal Nationals for the kids last week.  They went in with some high hopes as they trained hard and were well prepared from the programs that Doug and Scott set up.  Simon had a great week and got some awesome results in his races.  Then the big boys went out and they were caught in crashes in both the crit and road race that took them out of any chances of doing well.  Nate and Peter both ended up with broken bikes and busted carbon wheels again.  It is all a part of racing and we are moving on and getting ready for the next races which are the ToAD races and then the l'Abitabi.  The good thing is that the boys are ok and it seems that Max's wrist should be ok after crashing yesterday from what I heard from Nate.  More later when I talk to Nate when he gets home.  Later..

Road trip

Well I took a little time off today so I could drop Nate off at WCJ Pilgrim wire so they could load the ISCorp sprinter full of Jr racers to go to Augusta Georgia.  The gang in the van will be Nate, Peter, Kaleb, Max and Joe.  Billy, Simon, Garrett and Alex are there already and Lindsey and Zoe are on the way too.  A big thanks to Billy Jones, Mike Weber, Randy Roth, Doug Close and Scott Rosenfield and then most of all Richard Koch for being brave enough driving them to the USAC road National Championships.  Hopefully the weather is good and not to hot, but the forecast looks like it may be a hot one there to.  I will keep you posted on the results of the guys that are there racing as I get them here.  Well I am going to go and hop in the pool to cool down before I go to bed.  Later..

Race's

There were a few races over the weekend and Nate raced on Saturday in the pro 1,2,3 race only and then the Jr race only on Sunday.  In the race on Saturday Nate was sitting in and then there was a crash in the race and he had to leave the course to avoid it and did not get a free so he was a lap down.  He sat in and then just rolled in with the field.  He tried to lead Peter out for the field sprint but that got messed up.  Then they went out to Max's family place in Lake Mills for the night and played on the lake before heading to Madison for a race.  They raced and Nate finished 5th as he did work for a few other team mates.  Good racing as  they prep for the Nationals this weekend.

Maddie has been working as a Milwaukee County Life guard and really enjoying it and she will also be working at Summerfest. So she is going to be a busy little one this summer for sure.  Jessie is still upnorth and enjoying her time with my parents.  Wade has been there to so she has had someone to mess with so Grandpa gets a break.  Cece now has 2 weeks of some kind of class she is taking so that will have her busy.  For me it is just the normal work stuff.  Speaking of it I better get some work done.  Later..

cruise control

Has been a semi normal week as far as that goes around here.  After the last few weeks of Nate getting back from Belgium then right into racing here and graduation we just had some normal training rides and now a few races this weekend.  Saturday the race is in Menominee Falls and then in Finchberg on Sunday.  I looked at the WORS race and it is in Cam Roc on Sunday as almost thought about doing it but I am thinking that with so little time on the mtn bike I may need to hit the trails a little before a mtn bike race.  But I plan on trying to make it at least 1 or 2 races this year if I can.  Jess is upnorth with my parents for the next 2 weeks enjoying the lake and hopefully not to much rain in Rhinelander.  Maddie has been working teaching water exercise classes and life guarding so that has been good for her. Cece is done with school so she has a small break before taking a few classes this summer so soon she will be busy too.  Fixxie has been just running around as always.

State road race

Here are a few pictures from the State road race over the weekend.  Nate had a good Jr race as he took 3rd and Max took 1st and Joe took 2nd.  A nice sweep of the podium for the ISCorp jr race team.  Then after a short rest they toed the line in the pro 1,2 but the pace in the wind and heat was a tad much and Nate pulled out of the race.  I don't blame them one bit for that.  This weekend are a few races in the WCA before loading up and heading to the National Championships in Georgia.  Going to be a fun summer.  Later..

Race'n in Illinois

What a good weekend of racing.  I picked the ISCorp van up and then got 5 fast kids and headed south for some Friday racing in Lake Bluff.  The kids raced the cat 2/3 race and they missed the guy go off solo and then tried a few times to pull him in but instead went for the field results.  Peter took 2nd, Nate 4th and Max 5th.

Then on Saturday it was racing in Glenco on Saturday. In the Jr race Nate took off at the gun and destroyed the field and took any kids that were just trying to hang on.  Then it was a few ISCorp kids attacking all the time to soften up the others.  In the end Peter took off and then the ISCorp kids sat up and then let the others chase for a lap.  Then in the end it was Peter for the win, Nate 2nd and Kaleb 3rd.  The goal was for the win and then making sure Kaleb won the Jr state crit championship.  Both goals were accomplished in the race.  Then it was a break and race the cat 2/3 race.  The kids sat in and then moved up in the end and Peter got the win, Kaleb 6th and the bronze medal for the cat 2 crit state championship, Max was 11th and then Nate 19th. Great racing all weekend and great to see Kevin race the Jr race and hanging with a great group of kids and friends.  Great job guys,

Oh yeah Nate graduates from high school this week.  Wow where has the time gone?  Well for anyone in the area we are having a gathering at the house on Friday at 5:30 for Nate so feel free to stop by and say hello.  Later..
